Les certifications techniques Microsoft nécessitent le passage d'un ou plusieurs examens, parmi plusieurs cursus d'examens sélectifs qui permettent de juger de la capacité d'une personne à mettre en oeuvre et supporter les produits et technologies Microsoft.

Les nouvelles certifications MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) et MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) permettent aux informaticiens de démontrer leurs connaissances techniques et leurs compétences requises pour tenir des rôles spécifiques de développeurs.
